I think it's part of a broader narrative of right wing moral bypassing. Hierarchies of domination and control are justified for the purpose of self-gratification. These justifications seem to become more and more delusional as the moral inconsistency of the act/desire increases.

Absolutely, however imo conservatism is defined by it, and fights for it, while liberalism is about tempering it and designing institutions to remedy it.
