Heck, the idea that other options might exist for people in those two scenarios doesn't seem to occur to him.
His "optimistic" scenario is AI becomes omnipotent and takes over all jobs so only the people who own everything and their toadies get to have a decent life. His pessimistic scenario is that the omnipotent machine god just kills everyone.
