At the other site someone asked "Did other ships slow down?" No. I checked the 5 most close ships heading the same way. They did not slow down similarly in the same wind. The ship most closely resembling Yi Peng 3 actually sped up. The Lady Hanneke. Rest of the ships below.

4 other ships experiencing the same weather as Yi Peng 3, without slowing down.

Boarding happening? Frigate is shadowing and patrol boats are closing in from south and north
auonsson@auonsson.bsky.social·2024-11-19T14:18:19.722Z#
No boarding it seems. South Baltic and the general area of cable breaks are seeing slightly unusual presence of Danish frigates and a Swedish mine-warfare ship. (But this might be unrelated.)

During ten minutes, half an hour ago, Yi Peng 3 was on Danish territory. She followed a fairway that briefly leaves international waters.
auonsson@auonsson.bsky.social·2024-11-19T16:55:09.339Z#
Out in South Baltics a Swedish minesweeper gave one AIS-ping 6.5h ago, smack where track of Yi Peng 3 meets C-Lion 1. Further, Swedens submarine rescue/underwater work vessel Belos is en route together with a coast guard patrol.

I think CN ship Yi Peng 3 is being detained. Suspect in cable incidents. She slowed down to a crawl in Kattegatt, manouvered to 400 meters inside DK territory. DK navy patrol P525 to her port. Guess: she is detained, awaiting either DE, FI or SE staff since they are the countries affected.

Swedish warship 89 was a little nervous before switching of AIS.

Seems like DANPILOT CHARLIE joined the party and left a Pilot on the ship.

I don’t entirely understand what the purpose of this is for China. Unless they’re doing this on Russias behalf, what’s their incentive?
Patrik Nordquist@nordquistpatrik.bsky.social·2024-11-19T17:19:03.527Z#
If you want to sabotage a cable it makes sense to pay a ship crew without morals to do it for you. The morals are perhaps Chinese but the money is certainly Russian. It is even possible for Russians to crew a china-registered ship.

#dkpol Passerede begge de ødelagte kabler. Lidt under mistanke må man antage, når dansk flådeskib følger det. Man er naturligvis helt ude af balance, hvis man har en fornemmelse af at WWlll har været i gang et stykke tid.

Rigorous adherence to the rules when your opponent mocks them only exposes you to ridicule. The originators of this sabotage are probably rolling with laughter when they read such news. bsky.app/profile/afpn...

Appears that the frigate is now headed south, while the patrol boats remain in the vicinity of Yi Peng 3. Not sure if this is due to the channel and navigation needs or if it's breaking off entirely.

I’m not a sailor. But am I right to think that dragging an anchor is not accidental except for a very short distance?
auonsson@auonsson.bsky.social·2024-11-19T14:02:20.707Z#
Fully depends on how drunk the crew is and how noisy the ship is! Its a common accident. It is not common to drag it at speed for hours on end though.
The Washingbear@the-washingbear.bsky.social·2024-11-19T14:42:55.710Z#
If a ship has dragged its anchor for some time, what kind of proof could you find by boarding the ship afterwards, if a crew doesn't want there to be any evidence like entries into the log? Are there any automated systems that would record such events?
Takru@takru.bsky.social·2024-11-19T14:12:54.767Z#
What would be a reasonable excuse to have the anchor lowered? Would you happen to know if it had had a recent stop at sea?

Quite possibly. Or used to send a clear message but with kept deniability.
